Who I am

I am Emiel Bouwens, born in 1978 near Maastricht and living in beautiful Ghent. As a coach I combine my Limburgian friendliness with my Dutch directness to quickly find the essence. I love it when people are simply themselves in all flavors and colors. The sweet, the sour, the black, the white and everything in between. I am very eager to learn, have a sharp mind and I am a good listener. My Core Values are freedom, love, authenticity, growth and of course happiness. I also have weaknesses: I' can be sloppy, sometimes stubborn and too often don't get out of my seat to exercise. You see: I am a man of flesh and blood and do not hide. Like this you see who is sitting in front of you which allows you to freely reflect and talk about yourself.

I have a Master's degree in International Economics from Tilburg University and followed several renowned coaching courses (more info). Before I started coaching I worked some 10 years as an expat consultant / manager  (incl. C-level) in Asia, Africa, Russia and the Caribbean. My work in microfinance taught me a lot about the world and myself. I was constantly challenged and wanted more and more. Sometimes even a bit too much and in 2010  I bumped into myself. Since then I have taken a different path that suits me better. I rely more on my heart & intuition which gives me a lot of energy.

In my spare time I like to travel to exotic places and grab a pint with friends. I read and walk a lot, love music and art and am always up for a game of chess.
